Cooking with Lavender

This month, I am sharing lots of good information on the lavender plant.  Last week I shared a post on 16 different lavender essential oil uses, and this week, I am sharing some delicious recipes to incorporate lavender into your cooking!

(Next week I will be sharing tips on how to incorporate lavender into your daily routine to destress and feel calmer… which I know I’ll be referring back to frequently!)

Lavender makes a tasty and vibrant addition to many dishes.  The key is not to get too heavy-handed with the herb, because it can get too floral, and make your food taste a bit like you’ve accidentally sprayed perfume in your mouth. Also, make sure to select food-grade or home grown lavender to cook with, as some lavender (from florists and garden centers) may have been treated with pesticides.

Lavender makes a good substitute for rosemary in home baked breads.  The flowers also make a great addition to a salad, to give it a burst of color.

You can add a romantic element to some treats by adding lavender flowers, such as champagne or as a sprinkle on top of ice cream.  There are many different ways to enjoy cooking with lavender!  Below are some tried-and-true recipes from other bloggers, shared with their permission.
