As a working mom, I try to pack snacks to bring to work so I don’t hit up the vending machine. The options are usually expensive, so I prefer to bring stuff from home. I love coming up with new snacks, and have actually packed celery and peanut butter recently!
It got me thinking about Ants on a Log, a treat I used to eat when I was younger. Actually, I believe I ate the peanut butter and raisins, and left the celery on the plate… but these days, I love celery!
I decided to make a savory, grown-up version of Ants on a Log with crisp sticks of celery, hummus, and Hormel Bacon Toppings.
Hormel Bacon Toppings are made with real bacon, and it is a tasty way to add an extra bit of flavor, in a quick snack! Hormel has a line of products that makes cooking at home easier and more convenient. You can visit Hormel Foods for savings, coupons, Easy Recipe Ideas and to signup for Hormel Newsletter. Ants on a Log
- Celery Sticks
- Hummus (homemade or store-bought)
- Hormel Real Bacon Pieces
Take your celery sticks and cut them down to preferred size. Cut a thin strip off the bottom of the celery sticks, so the sticks lay level when you place them on a plate.
Spoon a little hummus into each celery stick. Place Hormel Real Bacon pieces onto the the hummus, to create a playful, yet satisfying ants on a log!
That’s it! A yummy snack that you can put together in just a few minutes! This is a great snack to take to work, or pack in a lunchbox for your kiddos, or even serve at a football game!
