Lori was kind enough to send me out a selection of some of her products to test out! Here is what I tried:
The skin restorative infusion is an herbal tea blend, and does not contain any caffeine or sugar. The tea contains only certified organic herbs, including nettles, rosehips, lemonbalm, yarrow, and peppermint. It is carefully crafted to support most of the body systems and promote good health. It is also used as a nerve tonic and aids in calming digestive disturbances. The herbs are packed with nutrients, minerals and vitamins to help give the drinker restored skin.
This was my first experience infusing teas from dried herbs, and I was a little apprehensive about doing it incorrectly. Luckily, Lori provided me with incredibly simple instructions! I didn’t even have to pick up any special tools. All I needed was a quart canning jar, which I had on hand. To the quart canning jar, I added 1/2 cup of herbs and poured boiling water on top, screwed on the lid, and let it sit. Lori recommends long infusions to really optimize the amount of nutrients and vitamins you receive from the teas. I let the herbs steep for 8 hours in the fridge. (My lid actually sealed, and I got to hear the satisfying “ping” that canners always hope for). After 8 hours, I strained the herbs from the water.
At this point, I could have warmed up the tea and added honey for sweetness, but I decided to try it cold. It was delightfully fragrant and tasted great! I was expecting to add some honey to it, since I have with all of my other “teas”, but this didn’t need any. The tea was sweet enough on its own. I admit, I was scared I wouldn’t love the taste, because it is so healthy, but I would easily pass up any artificially-flavored beverage for this. Lori created a tea that is delicious to drink, in addition to having incredible healing and beneficial qualities imparted by the herbs.
The Skin Restorative Infusion blend is sold in 3 oz bags for only $13.50.
My daughter is almost 3 now, and I am constantly struggling to get enough fruits and vegetables in her body. I am pretty sure she loves apple juice almost as much as she loves me, but it’s full of sugar, so I prefer that she not drink it often. I was thrilled to hear that Lori creates a healthy, herbal blend that is naturally sweet enough that kids love it as much as their beloved juice.
Dragon Juice is handcrafted and free from sugar and caffeine, so it is a much healthier alternative to Kool-Aid or juice. (Side note: Kool-Aid does contain food dyes, which cause all sorts of terrible side-effects, so it is best to skip it entirely). Dragon Juice is sweet and citrusy and even has a naturally bright red color.
It is naturally high in Vitamin C, which may help boost your little one’s immune systems. Each package contains recipes that you can use to create a special treat! Dragon Juice can be used to make Dragon Juice Ice Cream Sandwiches or Chocolate Smoothies! Talk about an easy way to get your kids to consume more vital nutrients! It’s not just for kids though. My bag of Dragon Juice came with a recipe for “Dragon Juice Bubbly” that is equal parts dragon juice and champagne. Yum!
At first, I too thought this was another tea blend, but don’t be fooled. This herbal blend is used to steam away impurities from your face. To use: the herbal blend is added to water, steeped for 10 minutes, and then simmered on the stovetop for an additional 10 minutes. From there, you use the infused water and a towel to (carefully) steam your face. The blend is made from all organic ingredients, including cell-proliferating comfey leaf and root, calming lavender, rosemary, yarrow, and calendula.
The herbal mug steamer helps soften dead skin cells, increase blood circulation and cleanse deep-seated impurities, leaving you with soft, hydrated and vibrant skin. It is recommended to use this beauty regimen once a week for optimal benefits.
You will definitely feel pampered and cleansed after using this. Half ounce bags come in at only $4, making this an incredibly affordable treat for your skin.
If you are using a commercial toner, you definitely want to check to see if it contains alcohol. Many commercial toners do, which can be very drying to the skin. Queen of Mug Herbal Toner is alcohol free, and made from a centuries old formula that is known to protect the skin’s acid mantle while balancing the skin’s ph levels.
Queen of Mug Herbal Toner is handcrafted with raw apple cider vinegar, soothing and cell-regenerating chamomile, skin-balancing rose and lavender, and MSM: a naturally occurring sulfur which is necessary for collagen synthesis. When used twice a week, it can help minimize fine lines and smooth the skin.
Here is a brief description of how the toner helps the delicate facial skin:
The cleansing alpha-hydroxy acids in Queen of Mug are natural, fruit acids from raw apple cider vinegar. Alpha-hydroxy’s help regulate the ph of the skin, which protects that ever so important acid mantle, which in turn protects you from the outside environment and some bacteria. They also cleanse and mildly exfoliate the top layer of skin. Alpha-hydroxy’s mildly exfoliate the skin by dissolving the glue that holds dead skin cells together. This allows the body’s natural emollient oils to reach the surface cells and help moisturize and relieve dryness.
Queen of Mug Herbal Toner is for all skin types, and especially beneficial to dry skin types (like mine). The toner does have a vinegar smell, which goes away after it dries. I have been using the toner for a couple weeks now, and have been impressed with the moisture level and smoothness of my skin.
2 oz bottles of this handcrafted goodness are priced at $14.50. A steal, when you consider the rewards of having healthy skin.
Quiescence is “the state of being quiet, still or tranquilly at rest”, which is an appropriate name for this linen spray. I love this stuff. It doesn’t smell like the overly sweet, chemical-laden linen sprays that line the shelves at stores. It has an herbal, natural and vibrant scent. It smells reminiscent of fragrant flowers and earthy tones that you would expect to encounter on a hiking trip. It’s wonderfully inviting, calming, and soothing.
Made with lavender hydrosol, witch hazel and essential oils, this can be used on bed linens before bed time to help capture a peaceful night’s sleep, or at work to ease anxiety and stress. It would also be beneficial to spritz on the chair of a grumpy co-worker who needs a better attitude 😉 Additionally, this can also be used to disinfect and decompress while traveling, shopping and to set make-up. *Bonus points: it’s safe for kids and dog friendly. *
This linen spray has a permanent spot on my night-side table and in my desk at work.
l.c. of acirema also carries an extensive line of skin care products, including cleansers, moisturizers, facial treatments and safe natural body products for babies.
