How to Make Whipped Cream

When I was younger, I remember my parents would buy the whipped cream in a canister, and keep it in the refrigerator.  When no one was looking, I would poke my head in the fridge, and squeeze mountains of whipped cream, right into my mouth.  Very sanitary, I am sure.  

Now days, as you probably know, I like to make everything from scratch.  Not only does it eliminate preservatives, chemicals and all that gunk, it tastes better.  And if you’ve ever had homemade whipped cream,  you know what I’m talking about. 

I was visiting my mom this weekend, and planned on teaching Elle how to make whipped cream (with the help of Grandma).  We had been cooking all weekend, and I decided to tackle the dishes while my mom (Grandma) was teaching Elle how to make whipped cream.  Less than a minute in, I hear Elle scream emphatically, “Mommy!! We are making whipped cream!”.   She was completely enamored with the process… not to mention extremely thrilled with the end result ;).  I don’t believe Elle has ever tasted whipped cream out of a canister, but I am certain she would agree that the homemade stuff is better. 

Learning how to make whipped cream is suuuuper easy.  You’re going to be asking yourself why you’ve never done it before. 

How to Make Whipped Cream

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tbsp organic sugar cane (or sugar)

Using a hand beater or stand mixer, whip heavy cream and sugar until whipped and stiff peaks appear.

See, I told you it was easy! Now, you can feel free to grab a spoon, and eat it just as it is (I wouldn’t blame you), or you can put a heaping tablespoon (or two) onto hot chocolate, a banana split, or on top of a fresh homemade peach cobbler

    OMG I just linked over from your strawberry cake post, you know, where I left you a novel….lol. I just thought of making a tres leches strawberry cake with this whipped topping!!! Ugh….I want cake and cake now. :/

    I love the whipped topping from the tub frozen. Oh Lordy and my twinkle spots it’s better than the can gaining into your mouth….in my opinion. It melts but it’s cold and a little chewy like a brownie and I need to stop….

  2. I remember when I was six, sneaking into the fridge to squeeze some whipped cream into my mouth, only to get caught because of the obvious spraying sound. Whipped cream is like my favorite food. I would eat it every day if I could. This recipe is so simple, but sometimes a little simplicity is what makes the best foods taste amazing. Great job, Andrea! 🙂
