Over the past couple years, I have participated in this awesome program called Foodie Pen Pal. It’s put on by theleangreenbean.com.
So what is foodie pen pal? It’s kinda like when you were in grade school, and your teacher assigned you a pen pal on the other side of the state (or world), and you were able to write to and get to know a complete stranger. Well imagine that scenario, and add in food. It seems like an obvious choice.
Here is how it works: You sign up before the first of the month, then on the 5th of the month, Lindsay (the creator of the program) pairs you with another “foodie”. You send a wonderful box filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written.
Sounds pretty fun, right? Well, it is!! This month, I was paired up with a wonderfully enchanting lady named Almah. I told her of my passion for spicy foods and tea, and she didn’t disappoint. Here is what was in this month’s Foodie Pen Pal:
I received a Tropical Pepper hot sauce, orange extra virgin olive oil, Pan Chi sriracha chili sauce, Mongolian fire oil and some sweet and spicy herbal teas! A few nights ago, my mom was in town, and she makes the best Chinese food. She used the orange olive oil, paired with some fresh oranges and made a wonderful Orange Chicken. She also used the mongolian fire oil in some fried rice. It was amazingly delicious!
I plan on using the sriracha chili sauce to make a batch of chicken, pineapple and sriracha kabobs this week 🙂
If you love to cook, or try new foods, Foodie Pen Pals is a great way to meet new people, taste new food, and interact with a different community!
