Elle started 1st grade a few weeks ago, and I am already scrambling to come up with lunch ideas that she will like! She can be a picky eater, and there is nothing worse than spending time and food making her a lunch that she won’t eat. One of her favorite ingredients is peanut butter, so I was recently brainstorming peanut butter school lunch ideas for her to eat.
Not all peanut butter is created equally! Many contain loads of sugar, unhealthy vegetable oils, and other unnecessary additives. A good way to find a healthier peanut butter is to read the label. It should really only contain roasted peanuts. Smuckers makes a reasonably priced organic peanut butter that we usually buy. I also keep a jar of this all natural dark chocolate peanut butter, for special occasions.
There are many different kid-friendly lunches that can be made with peanut butter! I have put together 7 peanut butter school lunch ideas that Elle loves. Most of these should stay good in the lunch box until lunch time, but you can always add an ice pack to keep it good until your little one gets to enjoy it!
Peanut Butter School Lunch Ideas
Make sure to check with your child’s school to see if they allow peanuts in packed lunches. Dangerous food allergies have influenced some schools to go nut-free in order to keep students with food allergies safe. My daughter’s school has designated a nut-free table for children with nut allergies to sit at and be able to eat their lunches without fear of coming into contact with nuts.
