A little over 5 years ago, my daughter made me a mom for the first time. It is a feeling that you just don’t know, until you hold your child for the very first time. The love you have for your little person is consuming and wonderful and everlasting.
Since then, I have been able to enjoy 5 birthdays, Christmases and New Years with my little girl, and each one is more amazing than the last. She has brought so much joy to my life, so I try to take every chance I get to celebrate her!
I came up with this list of 7 things to do with your daughter. These things will be fun for both mom and her MinnieMe!
7 Things to Do with your Daughter
Make Brunch Together
One of my favorite things to do with my daughter is to cook with her. She helps me measure out ingredients, she is an enthusiastic stirrer, and seeing her taste food that she has helped make is so rewarding! Once a week, we bake bread, cookies, or cakes together. We both have so much fun!
Watch a Disney Movie Together
I remember watching my favorite Disney movies with my mom when I was 5 years old, and it is even more fun watching them with my daughter! One of her favorite characters is Minnie Mouse, and we have a selection of Disney movies and shows she likes to choose from!
I bought her a Minnie Mouse Comforter set from Walmart this past week, and surprised her with it. She adores it! On Sunday afternoons, we usually watch a Disney movie together, snuggled up with a bunch of pillows and blankets!
Do each other’s Nails
My daughter and I have a weekly standing date where I give us pedicures. It gives us a little scheduled one-on-one time and she just loves it.
Plant Flowers Together
Teaching children how to grow and care for living things is a valuable life lesson, and children (and adults) adore flowers! This time of year, I love planting with my daughter, and showing her how to nurture and care for plants.
I take a crazy amount of pictures of my daughter, but I am so glad I do! Every 6 months or so, I stumble on an older photo and am blown away at how much she has grown and changed in such a small amount of time. I bought her this cute Minnie Mouse dress from Walmart, to match her new comforter. She was thrilled to show off her new dress in her photoshoot 🙂
Write Down Memories
I created this Dear mommy printable so I can remember our special times together! Time flies by so quickly, and you forget little things when kids are little. This way I can commemorate her 5-year-old writing, ideas, and enthusiasm!
Have a Shadow Puppet Show before Bed
Before bed every night, my daughter and I read books, but once or twice a week, we’ll have a puppet show! We turn off the lights, grab a flash light (or my cell phone) and make bunny shadows on the wall. It is so great to see her imagination at work, and to hear her laughter as she creates an elaborate story!
