As the new year rolls around again, I am looking back on the last year and trying to assess how I’ve changed and what I’ve accomplished. I started the year as a newly-divorced, single mother of two young children, living in a small town. I was quite overwhelmed and lonely, and desperate for some significant change in my life.
Today, I am living in a much larger city, that I am absolutely in love with. I have a job that I enjoy going to. My children are happy and healthy, and I am in a fulfilling relationship. A year ago, I couldn’t imagine being as happy as I am today. Looking back, I know that each pain and struggle I went though helped strengthen and motivate me to make such drastic changes in my life.
Healthy Activities to Reduce Stress
Some of the most stressful days of my life happened over the last year. I had to find a way to cope with them, so the stress didn’t consume me. Here are a few things I did that were tremendously helpful.
- Exercise – At every opportunity I got, I would go for a jog outside. I found running made me feel strong and capable. It gave me some much needed energy. When I wasn’t able to run, I tried my best to stay active indoors, with workout videos.
- Meditation – I had been meditating on and off for several years, but I began to rely on meditation as a way to cope with high-stress situations. If I found myself overwhelmed, I would give myself permission to take 5 minutes to close my eyes, and take deep breaths in and out, until I felt calm.
- Nourishing my Body – Just like cars run better on clean oil, our bodies work better when we provide it with nourishing foods. I made a habit of keeping plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables in my house. I kept water with me, at all times, and limited processed foods, as much as possible.
Nourishing with the Ultimate Superfood
I feel like most of the hardest post-divorce days are behind me, and am now looking ahead at becoming healthier, happier and stronger. Making exercise and meditate a part of my weekly routine is still incredibly beneficial for me, but I am also working to diversify the nourishing ingredients I ingest.
I recently started adding Equilibrium Superfood to my daily diet. It is made in handcrafted small batches using a myriad of superfood ingredients, including:
- Wild raw honey
- Fresh bee pollen
- Ginseng root
- Organic ginger root
- Organic turmeric root
The combination of these organic or wild-crafted superfoods stimulates the nervous system, enhances brain function, and has anti-inflammatory properties to keep you from feeling mentally or physically sluggish throughout the day. I add a heaping teaspoon of Equilbrium to my mid-morning coffee to boost anti-oxidants, and provide antibacterial and anti-viral support, in addition to helping me sustain my energy throughout the day.
