I will admit, I am not too crafty. I don’t have the patience and dedication for any type of task that takes a long time. Sewing and quilting are pretty much out of the question. Anything that involves precision is a bad idea for me.
However, there are some really EASY and QUICK crafts that have great results! These boxes are one of them! I found this idea on Pinterest and modified it to meet my needs 🙂
Here’s what you need
- A diaper box, shoe box or other unused box
- Scrap fabric
- A glue gun and hot glue sticks
- Any other embellishments you want, such as ribbon, flowers, buttons, etc.
Here’s how to do it
Cut out your fabric to fit the inside and outsides of the box. There’s really no point in covering the bottom, unless you just feel like you want to. Adhere the fabric to the box with a glue gun, then glue on your embellishments! How easy is that?!
I keep this box by Elle’s bed to keep a few of her favorite books. We have a bookcase in our living room with the rest of her books, so this way I can rotate them out, and have a few books readily accessible in a nice contained area. I used ribbon with her initials to customize it for her room.
This was a small toddler-sized shoe box that came with some really great shoes that Elle’s grandma bought her. It looked like the perfect box to store my growing collection of dōTERRA essential oils!
This last box I decided to keep on top of my dryer to store our laundry supplies. It is cute, accessible, relatively sturdy, and contains everything we need for laundry.
I made all three of these boxes out of supplies I already had, and it only took me a total of 10 minutes. There is also the added benefit that I am putting a little less trash into the world. That is a craft I can manage!!
