Spring is my absolute favorite time of the year. I love the extra sunshine we get in the mornings and evenings, the blooming flowers, and warmer days.
I feel like spring is a great time of year to do some self-reflection to see what is going right in my life, as well as what areas I could improve upon.
As I am getting married this summer, staying healthy is one of my top priorities this spring, so that I feel my best on my wedding day.
5 Things I’m Doing this Spring to Stay Healthy
Taking Daily Probiotics
I have been taking probiotics for about 3 years now, because of how beneficial they are.
Probiotics help keep your digestive system running smoothly with the help of good bacteria. And while there are a lot of probitiocs on the market, Align Probiotic Whole Food Blend is the #1 Doctor Recommended probiotic.
I personally love Align Probiotic Whole Food Blend because it is made by fermenting botanicals in their true form. It is also vegan, non-gmo, dairy-free, gluten-free, and free from synthtic fillers and artificial flavors. This clinically studied bacteria naturally helps.*
You can pick up Align Probiotic Whole Food Blend at your local Walmart or on walmart.com.
There’s nothing that feels more spring than digging my hands into the soil and gardening!
We recently purchased a house that has 8 huge planter boxes that line the back fence. Before we purchased the house, it sat vacant for more than 2 years, and the planter boxes were completely filled with weeds and grass.
My goal this spring is to de-weed each of the planter boxes and fill it with veggies, herbs, and flowers.
As a working mom, my me-time hours are in short supply. I have always struggled with prioritizing some time for myself in the past, but the old adage that you can’t pour from an empty cup is certainly true!
That’s why I am prioritizing a daily practice of meditation.
A couple weeks ago, I set my morning alarm 20 minutes earlier than I usually wake up. I’ll get up, make coffee, then spend 15 minutes meditating before anyone else in my house is awake.
I can already tell it’s made a difference in my mood throughout the day, and it feels great to start my morning on a peaceful note, rather than one of being rushed.
It can seem daunting saying “I’m going to start exercising”, right? Trying to find time, energy, and a place to exercise often turns me off the idea as soon as it comes into my head.
This spring, I’ve decided to add physical activities into my day that don’t feel like exercise. I’ll go on a gentle hike with my kids on Sunday mornings. I’ll take a short walk on my lunch break to get out of the office. And gardening counts as exercise, right?
By finding things I enjoy doing that keeps me physically active, I get exercise without feeling like I’m exercising.
Add More Color to our Diet
I have long been a fan of eating clean, but sometimes find myself in a cycle of making the same meals week after week.
Have you ever heard the phrase, eat the rainbow? That’s what I am focusing on this spring for me and my family!
I plan on buying and preparing meals with a wide range of colorful fruits and vegetables. My kids tend to be picky eaters, so I think exposing them to a larger variety of foods will be good for them, too! Plus kids tend to gravitate towards colorful foods, so why not make them naturally colored instead of artificially?
If you try any of these activities this spring, leave a comment to let us know how it went!
