Here are some simple Avocado Hair Mask recipes that you can whip up in no time at all.
Avocado Hair Mask for Deep Conditioning
- 1 avocado, make certain it’s ripe
- 2 T honey
- 2 T olive oil
Blend all the above ingredients together in a blender/food processor. Rub the mixture into damp hair and then heat using a hair cap and hairdryer (~15 minutes) or let it heat naturally by sitting outside and enjoying the sun for about 30 minutes. Rinse and wash are normal.
The fats from the avocado and the olive oil combined give your hair a lot of moisture which can bring back even the driest hair, ever.
Avocado Hair Mask to Boost Shine
- 1 avocado
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
Blend up the avocado until no chunks remain. If it’s thick, you can add in a little water at this point. Next, add in the egg and olive oil and continue to blend.
Apply this hair mask to clean, damp hair. Leave in for a few minutes and rinse out with cool water. (not hot water, just cool)
The egg adds good vitamins and shine to your hair and combined with the other fats, this hair mask will really boost the shine to your hair.
Avocado and Coconut Oil Hair Mask
- 1 avocado
- 2 T Coconut Oil
Add the coconut oil to your mashed up avocado. Cover your hair, put on a shower cap, and let sit for the next 30 minutes. Once done, rinse and wash with cold water and let air dry.
Coconut oil and avocado combined are a great way to bring back that shine and health. And it almost feels like coconut oil can be added to just about anything these days to help fix and repair it.
Why do some hair masks have to be washed out with cold water only?
This is because some ingredients in hair masks react with hot water and may cause them to become gunky or thick. When you’re trying to replenish your hair, that’s the last thing that you want.
What frequency should I use a hair mask?
Once per week is plenty when you’re using a hair mask. If you start to use them too much, you then run the risk of your hair becoming too oily.
