Last November, my boyfriend proposed after we had been dating for 2 and a half years. We decided to have our ceremony right on Lake Vallecito, with the beautiful Colorado mountains in the background.
I don’t generally spend a lot of time worrying about how I look, but since it’s my wedding, and I’m spending $2,400 for a photographer, I want to feel great about how I look!

About Straighter Teeth…
There was the obvious option of braces, but I have a professional career and I’m in my mid-thirties, and I just couldn’t bring myself to get braces for 1 – 2 years.
I did some research into Smile Direct Club (which had painful reviews) and Invisalign (which was pretty pricey), and finally found Candid Co.
Candid Co seemed affordable ($1,900 for the whole treatment*), had good reviews, and the treatment time was about 6 months (which means I would have straight teeth in time for my wedding), so I watched a dozen or so youtube video reviews, and felt like I was ready to take the leap forward!
Candid Co Impression Kit Review
I got onto Candid Co and took the quiz to see if I was a good candidate for clear aligner treatments. Turns out I was, and I found a promo code for 25% off, so I ordered the impression kit.
Four days later, the impression kit arrived in my mail box!
The impression kit came with materials to do five impressions: three for the top teeth and two for the bottom. Plus step-by-step instructions on how to do the impressions.
I read on a couple other reviews that their impressions were rejected, so I was thorough in reading and following the instructions. Plus, I didn’t want to put myself through this process a second time.
It was pretty easy – you just mix the grey and blue putty together, place them in the blue trays, then insert the tray (one at a time, obvs) to make an impression of your teeth. The hardest part about it was keeping the molds in your mouth for 3 minutes per set. It wasn’t the most comfortable thing, but it also wasn’t terrible.
After my impressions were done, I had my fiance take 8 really awkward close up pics of my teeth and mouth, while I had this spacer inside my mouth. Figured this would be a good time to test our relationship!
I mailed the impression kit back to Candid Co, in a prepaid box, the next day. I also uploaded my photos to Candid Co.
Reviewing Candid Co Treatment Plan
After my photos and impressions were approved, I received my treatment plan. It was pretty neat to see the progression of my teeth with clear aligners!
Timeline – From Ordering Impression Kit to Aligner Delivery
From the time I ordered the impression kit until I received my custom aligners, it was a total of 6 weeks. That seemed really reasonable to me! Here is the breakdown:
January 6th – Ordered my Candid Co Impression Kit
January 9th – Impression Kit shipped
January 10th – Impression Kit arrives!
January 11th – Mailed back impressions & submitted photos
January 15th – Photos approved
January 28th – Impressions approved
January 29th – Treatment plan emailed to me
January 30th – I ordered the aligners
February 16th – Aligners received!
My Smile Before Candid Co
For never having had braces, I will say my teeth aren’t bad. They are a bit crowded, and my front teeth overlap. And while it’s not that obvious in photos, I can definitely tell and it has made me self-conscious for the past 20 years. So, with the help of Candid Co, I am fixing it đŸ™‚
