Have you ever thought about pureeing carrots, adding a little coconut oil, and slathering it on your face? If so, keep reading to learn how to make a carrot and coconut oil face mask!
These wonderful plants that grow natively on our beautiful earth are jam-packed full of healthy goodness. And not just for ingesting, but for our skin as well!
I will admit, this carrot and coconut oil face mask wasn’t originally my idea. Several years ago, I was having a conversation with one of my aunts, and she mentioned that she used the combination of steamed carrots with coconut oil as a homemade facial mask.
I tried it at home and loved it! Plus, I regularly have both carrots and coconut oil in my house, so it was incredibly convenient to add it to my regular beauty regimen.

Here’s why it works:
In addition to being great for your health and eye sight when eaten, carrots are a natural antiseptic, and they are full of Beta-carotene, which may help smooth the skin and reduce wrinkles (source). This study showed coconut oil decreased transepidermal water loss in patients with atopic dermatitis, which may suggest that it helps hydrate and moisturize the facial skin.
And in case you were worried, the carrot orange will not dye your skin.

Will canned carrots work?
Olga says
Would it not be better to steam the carrot? Seems a waste to boil the carrot and discard the water with nutrients in it. Or, perhaps cooking carrot in just a little bit of water (just enough to cover it in the pan), and then mashing everything together would be a good idea? My Mum always used to make carrots and peas that way.

I think that’s a really great idea, Olga! Thanks for sharing!
