Why Meal Plan?
I have been meal planning for at least 10 years. It’s how I make sure my family has a healthy, homemade meal, every night. It also saves me time and money by ensuring that I always have groceries available for the meals my family eats.
But did you know there are scientifically-proven benefits to meal planning? This study on 40,000 participants shows that meal planning is associated with food variety, diet quality, and body weight.
So, meal planning saves you time, money, and improves your diet quality, food variety, and body weight. If you’re not meal planning, you should start!
The Right Meal Planning Tool
I think one of the biggest hurdles people face when meal planning is coming up with ideas. That’s where Recipe Calendar comes in.
With this app on your Android or Apple phone, it takes all of the work out of meal planning!
After you download the app, you choose the meal plan you want, and they have tons to choose from, including:
- Keto Diet
- Vegan Meal Plan
- Family Dinners for 4
- Healthy Vegetarian Menu
- Low Carb Meals
- Budget Saver: Tasty and Inexpensive Family Meas
- Whole 30
- Paleo Inspired
- Flexitarian Diet
- Gluten Free Meal Plans
- Restaurant at Home: Gourmet-Style Cuisine
- Global Cuisine
- Healthy Meal Plan for Kids
Whatever diet/lifestyle/cuisine you want, they have it!
Once you select your meal plan, you’ll see your entire week’s menu, including ingredients, and directions. You can automatically scale all recipes for a certain amount of people. You can also select how many meals you want on the weekdays vs weekends.
The Recipe Calendar app also allows you to set reminders for meals at whatever time of day you select.
One of the other cool features for those who have food allergies (or preferences) is the Allergies tab under Settings, which lets you filter out recipes that have gluten, peanuts, meat, poultry, seafood, dairy, and eggs.
Once you have your settings selected, and your meal plan chosen, you can customize each meal, based on the amount of people eating. Recipe Calendar will automatically scale your recipe, so you only purchase what you need.
It also shows nutritional value, so if you’re following a restrictive diet, you can see how many calories, and your macros – proteins, fats, and carbs.
Once your meal plan and preferences are selected, Recipe Calendar automatically populates your grocery list for you, organized by shopping isle. You can even customize how frequently you’d like to shop (today, today and tomorrow, one week) and it will produce the shopping list you need for your meals. Pretty cool, right?
