Homemade Brownie Recipe

Author Andrea Vaughan

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease an 8x8 pan with olive oil or butter.
  2. Combine sugar cane, 1/2 cup melted butter, eggs and 1 tsp vanilla extract in a large bowl.  Mix well, by hand.  In a medium bowl, combine 1/3 cup cocoa powder, 1/2 cup flour, salt and baking powder, and stir well.  Gradually add in dry ingredients to wet ingredients, 1/2 cup at a time, mixing well by hand after each addition.
  3. Pour batter into greased pan, and bake in preheated oven for 25 - 30 minutes.
  4. A few minutes before brownies are done, combine powdered sugar, 3 tbsp softened butter, 3 tbsp cocoa powder and 1 tsp vanilla extract.  Beat with an electric mixer until fully incorporated.
  5. Once brownies are cooked through, and an inserted toothpick comes out clean, spread icing mixture onto brownies, while still hot.
  6. Then grab a fork, and dig right in! (Contents may be hot).
