Homemade Bacon and Cheese Sauce

A delicious homemade bacon and cheese sauce to smother vegetables.

  • 2 slices bacon diced
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup cheddar cheese grated


  1. Cook bacon until crisp. Remove bacon, leaving fat drippings in pan. Turn heat to medium and sprinkle in flour. Stir until flour has absorbed all the drippings, then slowly pour in milk, mixing constantly with a whisk. Keep whisking until you have a smooth roux. Add in salt.

  2. Reduce heat to medium-low and add in cheese. Stir constantly until the cheese is melted and sauce is thickened. Add in bacon pieces and serve immediately.
