Making the Perfect Salad
Salads are a tasty way to get a variety of veggies into your diet, without feeling like you’re eating vegetables.
I like to make a large bowl of salad on Sunday evenings so I have salad ready to go for lunch during the week.
There are also a ton of great salads in mason jar ideas on Pinterest!
To make my rendition of the perfect salad, I chop fresh, crisp romaine lettuce, add in organic baby spinach, and sometimes butter lettuce. Then I top it with shaved carrots, diced bell peppers, cherry or grape tomatoes, shaved radishes, and occasionally I will throw in some olives or pickles (which sounds weird, but it’s super good).
My favorite toppings for salad include homemade croutons from crunchy leftover bread, grilled chicken breast, sunflower seeds and even capers.
The lettuce is just the canvas, but what you can turn it into has infinite possibilities!
But let’s not forget what is arguably the most important component of a salad… the clean eating salad dressing!
Make your own Clean Eating Salad Dressing Recipes
A great dressing can make a salad.
This is perhaps why the grocery store shelves have hundreds of different flavor combinations and options to choose from.
But before you grab one, take a peek at the ingredients. It’s pretty scary.
Food dyes, high fructose corn syrup, additives, chemicals, preservatives, and so many other unhealthy things that were not intended for human consumption.
So, after you put that bottle back, cheer up because it is incredibly easy to make your own clean eating salad dressing (psst – to learn more about clean eating – go here)! It usually only requires a few ingredients that you likely already have in your fridge or pantry.
You can also grab this handy salad dressing jar, which holds your homemade dressing, and has recipes written right on the jar.

Since I have an opposition to vegetables, salad is not really my type. Indeed, I have never eaten salad “properly” before. However, your recipes make it all the better. Thanks.

Hi Laura – Thanks for your comment and for bringing this to my attention. I apologize for not having clean eating dressings on this post – I originally had my title as homemade salad dressings, then changed the title and didn’t do an adequate job of vetting the recipes. I have gone through and eliminated the non-clean eating recipes, and added new recipes, so I think you’ll find the list much more representative of clean eating. I appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment, and hope you’ll find a recipe here that you love 🙂
Thanks for your input! I wrote this post a while ago, and it sounds like I need to revisit the links in the post.

They are so easy to make and so much better for you. I am really excited to try the Lavender and Honey dressing. I have been cooking with Lavender a lot lately and love it!
